I’m sorry I’ve been a little quiet the past few days. Truth is, last week was just not my week. Not only was it really long, but also very frustrating.
Also, you will see that my blog is kind of going through a little bit of a makeover(?), if you will. One of the most frustrating days last week was on Friday evening when I found out that I had to make a certain switch and make my blog one that is self hosted. My blog is now officially ohheybabyblog.com. I’m a dot com. So weird, but so…..official. I’m in the process of getting a new theme installed so there will be a few changes by the end of this week (hopefully!)
Anyway, back to the good stuff. I hope that everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend! Chicago FINALLY got some spring weather so Olivia and I definitely took advantage of that.
It was beautiful out. It was 50 degrees, so warm in the sun, and finally spring-like.
Dominic cleaned the car, and we let Olivia run around our backyard with Charlie. The sight of her running around makes me so happy. As much as I want my baby to always be a baby, a part of me has been waiting for the day she’d run around, with a little jacket on, laughing and playing. Dominic and I are going to have so much fun with her this spring/summer, we can’t wait! :)
Playing outside called for a nice nap for Olivia, a cup of coffee for me and Dominic got ready and left for work. A short while after that is when I found out about my blog (not cool), which left me in such a terrible mood, and then my dad came over for dinner. Olivia started to get really crabby, and I couldn’t figure out why. She was so whiny and clingy and then I figured it out: I’m pretty sure our Girl is getting her molars.
Teething is the pits.
On Saturday, my sister and my dad came over. She had an Easter basket for Olivia (she couldn’t wait one more day). It was so cute!
There were puzzles, bibs, cute clothes, a book, and little Easter eggs filled with her favorite Gerber cheese things…of course those were her favorite part. My favorite part was the ‘O’ gift tag. How cute is that?
The temperature reached 56 degrees so of course we had to go out for a bit. We went to Target to get a pair of shoes for Olivia’s Easter dress, and I had even found the PERFECT cardigan as well. #targetdoesitagain.
When we came home, the temperature had dropped a little, but I really wanted to have a little Easter Egg hunt for Olivia. I know that she is too young to actually understand the concept, so I just laid them around the grass. I filled the eggs with coins so that it would motivate her into picking them all up and putting them in her basket (she likes to ‘shake it shake it’, she loves the noise). It was honestly so awesome to see her listening to exactly what I showed/told her to do, and she put all of those eggs into her little (big) basket. You could tell she was just as proud of herself, as I was of her. Next year, I’m not holding back though :P
Afterward, we ordered our weekly Saturday pizza, and my dad walked to the corner to pick it up. Olivia was NOT happy about that. She thought he was leaving her so we sat outside and waited for him to walk back. That girl loves her some papa.
Once my dad left, and then Dominic’s parents came over. They insisted we go for a walk, so walk we did. We took Olivia to the park, but it was already getting late so she wasn’t really having it. The walk was nice though.
Easter Sunday. The most beautiful day all weekend. 61 degrees.
This year, I think I was the happiest about the weather because Olivia was able to wear her beautiful little dress without any tights. She got to show off her cute little legs :) I know I say this for every holiday, but I loved her dress so much. It was simple, light, and perfect. Shout out to Nicole for introducing me to that gem.
I got Olivia dressed, and then we gave her the basket that we had made up for her. Nothing too big, because I knew our families had things for her, too. Here is our basket:
Stickers, a coloring book, bubbles, a regular cup, and a bunny cup (because, duh), a few hair clips, and 3 pin wheels. Our neighbors have pin wheels and Olivia always wants to play with them, so I bought her a few mini ones and she was immediately obsessed. Just when I think she can’t get any cuter, she tries to blow the pin wheel to make it spin. I’ll see if I can upload a video.
We left our house early, around 10:30am, and stopped by my friend, Steph’s house. She had said that she had a little something for Olivia, and we also got to spend a little time with her and her parents. They’re lovely. And love Olivia. We really are lucky with how many people love our little girl.
This was her basket:
Our second stop was to Dominic’s Uncle Bobby’s house. It’s about 45 minutes away so we were able to slip in Olivia’s afternoon nap. I thought Olivia was going to be shy, but she fit right in. She was running around the house, chasing their little dog, and playing nicely with everyone. We had delicious food, dessert, and good company. My favorite part was taking pictures of Olivia outside. My second? Uncle Bobby’s Anise Cookies. They are literally heaven in my mouth. He put like 8 in a little bag for me to take home and they’re already almost all gone :(
^My favorite picture^ ^Nick and Nancy got Olivia an Easter basket too, but the picture I took of it is on my phone….and that, at the moment, is not working. (Don’t even ask, it just shut off.) Inside of theirs was: A BUBBLE machine, bubbles, a Minnie Mouse doll. a keepsake hand print thing, and the prettiest book of nursery rhymes!^ ^The first time I saw our ‘Save The Date’ on someone’s fridge since sending them out!^ ^Dominic’s Grandpa tried so hard to get her to go by him…she just wasn’t sure about it.^
Our third and last stop was to my Grandparent’s house. On the way there we saw about 10 deer, just chillin. They were obviously taking advantage of the beautiful weather, too. We ate delicious dinner over there AGAIN, had dessert AGAIN, and were in good company again :)
^Easter goodies from my mom and Rene. More hair clips, egg chalk, bubbles, little people, stickers, pin wheels (not shown) and from Rene: an Olivia ballerina doll and an Olivia bank. The bank is awesome because Olivia has recently been putting all the coins she finds, into slots in our couch. This bank is plush, not glass, so she can carry it around with her and put all the money in there from now on. 5 points for Rene for that one!^
Olivia started getting really cranky around 6:30, so we made our way back to our house. When we got home, we stayed outside for a few minutes and watched the planes in the sky. I remember doing that with Olivia last year, but I would be carrying her as she waved hi and bye to the planes. This year, she was walking and pointing and SAYING hi and bye. So crazy.
All in all, this weekend was really nice (except for when my phone completely broke on me!). Olivia got more than we could’ve ever imagined and we are so thankful for all of it.
The one thing I keep thinking about is how we never manage to get a good picture of the 3 of us as a family. Yesterday, we really tried to get one, but the wind just wasn’t cooperating. I want to get more pictures of us, candid and posed, so I’m going to make a point to try to do so from here on out. All of your pretty family IG photos make me jealous! :P
Last night, Olivia’s teething was really bad again so I caved and gave her a little bit of Tylenol. Not sure it’s working too well though. Any other suggestions? Have I mentioned how much teething sucks?
What did you do this weekend?
P.S. My friend, Stef, was actually the first one to get Olivia and Easter Basket:
P.S.S Special thank you to Justin of Japster Inc. Like I said above, I was having a lot of trouble with this blog and a friend of mine referred me to him and I couldn’t be happier. He switched all of my things over in less than a day. If you ever need help with anything like that, you should totally check him out. Thanks, Justin!
