Of all the weekends I’ve written about so far, this one has come and gone the fastest. I cannot believe it’s already been a week (and one day!) since Easter.
Time, slow down.
Also, can I just throw in a quick HALLELUJAH for the weather this weekend? Freakin beautiful. We were outside every single day this weekend.
We decided to mark Friday as our official ‘spring cleaning’ day. I got clean the top floor, he cleaned the bottom floor, and we were VERY excited to get to open all of the windows!
We decided to get a nice start to our Spring Cleaning day by getting some Einstein Bros. Bagels. And a nice start it was. We also left with a half dozen to bring home so naturally, I’ve eaten a bagel with cream cheese every morning.
Afterward, we went to Wal-Mart to pick up a new plastic bin to put another set of Olivia’s outgrown clothes in(don’t even get me started).
And then we came back home to start, while Olivia napped. I only have two pictures from our actual cleaning up, but you can see here that Dominic meant business by taking everything out of the kitchen.
Meanwhile, I was upstairs cleaning both our room and Olivia’s room.
I have a confession: I just packed up all of Olivia’s little newborn hats. They were always nicely placed in the top drawer of her long dresser, along with her bibs, her tights, and her socks. Knowing full well that I could use the extra space where those little hats were, I just could not bring myself to pack them away. I know, I’m crazy.
The good news is that I finally did it. And guess what else? After I packed them away, I went downstairs and grabbed my breast pumps, all of Olivia’s bottles, the baby bullet, the extra liners for the bottles and everything else that made me look like a crazy, and packed it all away. I won’t lie, it was sad. But now we have more room for all of her ‘toddler’ stuff.
Whatever. She’s still my 7lb newborn in my head.
Although my back would tell you differently.
A solid 4 hours later, I came downstairs to put a roast in the oven. My first roast, actually. While that was going on in the oven, my friend, Alexis, stopped by with the cutestttttt little jacket for Olivia.
And then finally, we were able to feast. The roast was so good, if I do say so myself. I’m actually hungry just thinking about it:
Saturday morning started off very slow. We had coffee, Dominic went to get his Tux, we watched cartoons….the perfect start, actually.
Oh, I forgot to mention that we ran into some problems on Friday with the venue that we chose for our wedding…98% sure that the original place that we picked is not going to happen. I’ll just throw it out there and say that I am so heartbroken over it. Heartbroken, and disappointed. But, if it was meant to be, it would’ve been, which means it was not. Does that make sense?
We had to go look at some back up venues and since Dominic was out to lunch with family to say goodbye to his cousin, I brought along my wedding-loving sidekick, Steph.
After we checked the place out, I brought Steph back home, and met my dad and my sister at an outdoor mall about 15 minutes from my house.
It was the perfect day to be at an outdoor mall. It actually got up to 71 degrees! Proof:
I wanted to go there to buy Olivia some spring/summer clothes…I didn’t walk out with too much, but the things I did get, I love :)
And then Dominic met us up there, and while him and I walked around a little, my dad and my sister entertained Olivia. When we met back up with them, Olivia had a new Mickey Mouse doll…of course she did.
And then my dad treated us to dinner at the Patio. A place with really good BBQ.
Cashier: “Hi, what can I get you tonight?”
Me: “I’ll have the BBQ chicken dinner.”
Dad: “I’ll have an Italian combo”
Dominic: “I’ll have the fish tacos”
Me and my dad just look at each other like what?! I know it probably doesn’t sound too weird, but trust me, it is… I guess it’s just like….who gets fish tacos at a BBQ place? My man is one weird individual, but I love him for it.
And then we found this place called Andy’s Frozen Custard. GEM.
And one last stop at Target before we headed home. We had to buy Olivia a helmet!
Last Mother’s Day (also my first!), Dominic surprised me by buying me a bike. I love it, but did not use it nearly enough.
This year, I plan on taking Olivia on the back, in one of those carriers. And I am SO excited. I love to bike ride, and I think that at first she is going to be so skeptical, but then I think she is going to love it too.
Oh and also at Target, Olivia drank out of the water fountain. Am I going to be this excited about this stuff with my second kid?
Sunday equals the Day I took the least amount of pictures. Between me being upset about our wedding venue, and also having a little allergy cold (or maybe an ear infection….), I just wasn’t feeling it…
Nick and Nancy brought over sandwiches for lunch, and then we all went to check out the hall from Saturday. I mean, don’t get me wrong, the place was nice. And the stuff that was included made it even better, but I’m just not sure that it was very us. We’re looking for something quaint and romantic, and I know it’s out there!
When we came back, his parents bought us ice cream to make us feel better (it kinda worked), and we looked for more venues online.
Dominic left for work, and Nick and Nancy left about an hour later. Olivia and I were cuddling on the couch, watching The Wizard of Oz, and then found ourselves waking up from an awesome nap about an hour later.
The nap was nice, but I woke up with a sore throat. So for dinner, I made hot dogs and green beans…and I let Olivia eat on her little couch while she watched Bubble Guppies. Mom of the year, right here.
Ironically, she ate more while watching TV than she does when we eat at the table. Go figure!
And I shall end this post with a 10 second clip of the funniest and cutest person I know:
God, I love that girl.
