Monday, you always come way too soon.
Let me start off by saying that Justice is Served. What a great way to start this past weekend off, right?
Thursday night I went to sleep with a terrible headache (I think I need glasses!), and Friday morning I woke up at 11:30am with the same damn headache. Not fun. I’m hoping that glasses is the answer because I don’t know how much longer I can take these headaches. Something else from when I woke up? It was snowing. SNOWING, people. Thursday evening it was raining, but at least it was 65 degrees. Chicago weather is nuts. Speaking of Chicago weather, it rained so much that half of Chicago is literally under water. There are so many people that have lost so many valuables and some that can’t even get into their homes. I’m praying for them because that it just so terrible.
Okay, enough with the bad stuff.
So Olivia had the follow up appointment for her eyes. She got them checked and dialated and well, let me just get right to the point and say that she does NOT, I repeat DOES NOT, need surgery anymore!!! Yay!!!
And then after that long appointment (Olivia doesn’t like to be held down to get eye drops in her eyes), I had a venti chai tea latte courtesy of my grandma (thanks, grams!) and then we went home where Olivia napped for 2 and a half hours. I think that appointment really wore her out. I know it wore me out!
When sleeping beauty finally woke up, we had a late dinner.
And then we had a little girls night. We ate banana pudding (so good!), played on the floor, watched brideday, played the piano, sang, dance. All that good stuff.
I knew that she was going to be up at least an hour past her bed time because of the long nap she took………but she ended up staying awake 3 hours past her bed time. That stinker.
And as always, once Dominic got home, we ended the night with a few episodes of Lost. We just started the fifth season!
Saturday morning, Olivia was up at the crack of dawn, and since Dominic was out to breakfast with his parents, I had to get up. Yay.
We watched cartoons, ate cereal, lounged around. Once Dominic got home, I showered, we got ready and then my dad and sister came over.
We went grocery shopping, and then Dominic stopped at Sprint and since there was a pet store next door, I decided to take Olivia in there. She kept saying “tweet tweet” to the birds!
I was starting to get very hungry, very fast, so we stopped home, put all the cold groceries away, and went to the pizza place down the street. We usually order and eat at the house but we were feeling kinda wild and decided to eat inside the actual restaurant. It’s very cute in there, and they gave us two loaves of bread with a whipped butter and then a brown butter….we tried the brown butter and we were in Heaven. It was like cinnamon and brown sugar or something and it was absolutely fantastic. And then our pizza came.
Once we were full and satisfied, we decided to take a drive to Ikea. I don’t really know why I thought that going to Ikea at 6:30 at night, with a baby who only decided to nap for 20 minutes and wanted to run around everywhere all of the time, was a good idea, but I did, and it wasn’t pretty. She wanted to run and play in all of the showcases, which would’ve been fine except she wanted to go in the showcases that we weren’t in.Thank god for my dad because he ran around with Olivia while Dominic and I walked around.
We got her attention for a little while when we came across a little kid room :)
I love Ikea. I could spend hours there. Seriously, HOURS. There is just something about that place that is so inspiring. I feel inspired to think better, and bigger. Reach for bigger things. It makes me excited to one day buy a home with Dominic and decide how I want it to look, what style, what colors. And the kitchens. Oh, the kitchens. The kitchen showcases are always my favorite part.
Anyway, we didn’t even make it to the second floor because our child had decided that it was time for us to go…lesson learned, kid.
When we finally got back home, I put her to sleep, put the rest of the groceries away, and decided to make her some banana muffins to wake up to…..and some for Dominic and I as well. Seriously, just put a few chocolate chips in those babies and you won’t be able to just eat one. Don’t worry, Olivia doesn’t get the chocolate chip ones.
Sunday morning, Olivia woke up with this:
Unreal. I don’t even know how that happened.
Nick and Nancy came over in the morning and I had told them the night before that I would make breakfast. I honestly cannot believe that I didn’t take a picture of the finished product because everyone like it! I followed this recipe if you’re interested. Super easy, and you’ll definitely impress your guests, or even if it’s just for your family! I can definitely see Dominic requesting to make this in the future….
After breakfast, we sat around the table and talked, then they took Olivia for a little walk while I straightened up a little and got ready.
We made a tough decision this weekend to send our pup, Charlie, to a new home. The poor little guy wasn’t getting the attention he deserved and he didn’t even have a gated yard to be able to run around in. It was sad, but it was definitely for the best. We decided to give him to Dominic’s grandpa and I know that he is going to give Charlie all the attention he deserves and then some. I know that Olivia has already forgotten about him, but it still makes me sad for her because I know she really loved him :(
Nick and Nancy took him to the grandpa’s house and after they left, Dominic went to work, and Olivia and I made the drive up north to visit our family. It was such a beautiful afternoon. I drove up there during Olivia’s nap time and she literally woke up as soon as we pulled into my Uncle’s driveway, how’s that for perfect timing?
We didn’t go up there for any special reason other than to visit and have some family time. They got flooded pretty bad so they were cleaning up all morning and my grandma was up there and made some good ol comfort food for all of us to enjoy. I love me a good home cooked meal, and apparently so does Olivia, she ate half of my pork chop!
While the sun was out, it was nice enough to be outside, so we spent some time out there. Spoiler alert: I’ve decided to make this Wednesday’s photo series out of the pictures I took of Olivia outside so you won’t get to see most of them until then. Here are a few to hold you over ;)
Oh, and remember how I told you that this was my favorite thing in her wardrobe right now? Nope. Not anymore. It changed very quickly to this jean jacket. I mean, come on, I know I’m a little biased but can you blame me? How cute does that thing look on her? The only part I don’t like is that it’s 24 months……which I just don’t understand because 24 months of anything else is literally swimming on her but whatever.
Olivia and I left around 8pm and made the drive back home. I didn’t plan that part too well because naturally she fell asleep, and when we got home, she wasn’t tired. She was up when Dominic got home at midnight and then he put her to sleep!
All in all, it was the perfect Weekend, spent with our families from start to finish :)
Today it’s supposed to be in the 70s, so I am going to the Dr., and then coming home to my two loves and we are hopefully going to FINALLY go on a bike ride. We tried all last week and it was cold and rainy. This week it’s nothin but sunshine in the forecast and Dominic and I are very much looking forward to spending as much times on our bikes as possible. I hope Olivia cooperates and likes riding on the back of mine!!
