Usually I have this post done on Sunday night, but Olivia was sick and I’ve been running around all morning so I’m only getting to this post right now!
Friday morning started like this:
They were outside waiting for me to finish getting ready.
We went to get some Starbee’s, and then I had an appointment to get a hair cut by my best friend’s boyfriend’s sister. Did I lose you? Her name is Mandy and she did a fantastic job. I didn’t want to cut my hair because it was so long, but I had to cut off the dead ends so that it could be long AND healthy for the wedding. Sacrifices, people. She didn’t cut off a lot, but she cut my bangs and I’m kinda regretting it. I told her I wanted them cut but I really don’t know why I did that. I liked not having to take care of my bangs and now I have to blow dry them again after I shower because other wise they go all wonky.
And then I came home to wait for little Odin. Olivia was so excited to see him :)
/\How cute are they?!I hope they stay besties forever! \/
Odin hadn’t even been gone an hour and Olivia was so worn out, that she didn’t even make it upstairs. Dominic came home, she hopped up on his lap and fell right to sleep.
Dominic and I were super exhausted, too. So we both took showers and fell asleep!
A certain little miss who shall remain nameless woke up at 7am. Seven. ON A SATURDAY. Honestly I don’t know what I ever did to her to punish me, but alas, we decided to make the most of it and we were up an out of the house by 8am.
We stopped for coffee and bagels and decided to do a little garage sale hopping.
Of course she fell asleep after about 20 minutes of being in the car, and we actually did not get out for one garage sale. But then, Dominic said, “Oh, there’s an estate sale! Let’s go there.” And I noticed that people were going inside a house for said estate sale.
Am I the only one that didn’t know what an estate sale was?! Random fact about myself: I LOVE looking at houses. Ever since my sister and I were small, we were obsessed with houses and would sit on each side of the car and point out the ones we were going to live in. I go on real estate websites just so that I can see what the inside of homes look like, especially the super big ones.
The fact that an estate sale was held indoors AND had super good deals on awesome treasures was a total win/win for me.
We walked out of there with a beautiful pink blanket for Olivia, a sifter, 4 pots (because we want to plant herbs on our balcony!), and a Polaroid camera…..all for 20 dollars.
The Polaroid camera was obviously the best part. I could NOT not get it. He had so many old school video cameras, but I knew that the camera had to be mine. It’s the best 10 bucks I’ve spent in a long time and I cannot wait to order film so I can use it!
In fact, once I got home, I showed my dad the camera and he told me that he had one of them at home and when I asked him if I could have it, he said yes! Here’s a picture of both of them!!!:
Anyway, after we went treasure hunting, we met my dad and sister at the store to buy seeds for our mini garden and food for a spontaneous cook-out that we decided to have!
My mom bought Olivia a new sprinkler, it’s supposed to move back and forth but because our water pressure isn’t that strong, it just squirted out water, which I think is better because I think Olivia would’ve freaked out had it started moving….maybe, maybe not, I guess we’ll have to wait and see if we can get our faucet fixed and then try it out again! So she kept running from the sprinkler to her little pool while we all helped prepare and cook food!
The food was SO good. Cook outs and bonfires are totally my jam.
Once everyone left, we decided to take Olivia out for a little while because it was still so beautiful out. We really wanted to take her downtown to see the fireworks, but we never would’ve made it. Instead we settled on going to a town called Elmhurt’s downtown area instead.
We walked around, ate frozen yogurt, played with the water fountain and walked some more so that we could ware Olivia out as much as possible!
And then we came home and Olivia went riiiiiiiiiiiiiight to sleep.
And we got to watch LOST. Oh my goodness that show is SO intense and we saved the big finale to watch tonight because it’s two hours long! Lost party! I’m so excited.
Oh and I painted my nails and toes, something I never do because I don’t have the patience to sit and wait for them to dry. But I found this brand and I love it!!! I used this product and the color is Times Square number 224.
Dominic and I were up until 4am, talking about all these different things and it was so nice. There has been a lot going on lately, making our days kinda smush together so it was nice to have a little time for ourselves, and talk like when we first started dating.
I love that man, and only 110 more days until he’s my husband ;)
Every morning, when I go get Olivia from her crib, she always has the biggest and best smile on her face as she pops up and says, “Mama!!”. It is my favorite part of the morning. And then she runs into our room where we always have a sippy cup full of milk waiting for her to (literally) chug. On Sunday morning, we went into her room and she was just laying there with this sad look on her face, I picked her up, cuddled her and then she got down to look for her milk. She would drink a little, and stop, drink a little more, and then stop. I knew what was about to happen next. She threw up all over herself and me and our floor and it was just the saddest and worst thing.
We were supposed to go a first birthday party for our little friend (and ring bearer!) Austin, but unfortunately were unable to make it because I didn’t want to take Olivia out nor did I want to get Austin, or anyone else, sick.
Dominic and I also woke up with colds, so the three of us spent the majority of our morning curled up on the couch. I made Olivia some tea (a blend of chamomile, ginger, cinnamon and a few other things) to calm her stomach, but we couldn’t get her to eat anything.
Finally we decided to get some Subway because Olivia cannot resist a turkey sub. She just can’t. And she didn’t.
After Dominic went to work, we still laid around on the couch and I finally got her to nap, even if it was on my chest (isn’t that the better way, anyway? ;) And actually, I found myself falling asleep while texting so I took us upstairs to the big bed and Olivia and I slept for two glorious hours.
And then my almost in-laws came over bearing gifts. A Keruig and an Espresso machine. I can’t wait to make a caramel latte.
Once they left, Olivia kept saying “Outside?” over and over again. I didn’t let her go outside at all because it was hot and humid and she was sick and blah blah blah but I finally gave in. We sat outside for about 20 minutes, half of which we spent hanging with a neighbor. And then we came inside. Those 20 minutes must’ve been enough because she didn’t ask anymore that night.
Since we slept until 5:30pm, I knew she wasn’t going to bed at her normal 8:30 bed time. We ate a snack, I cleaned up the kitchen, at 10 we went upstairs to play in her room and at 10:30pm she was telling ME “night night”, so I put her in her crib, gave her one last sip of her milk, and she was out cold in less than 5 minutes. My baby.
I straightened up a little more, took a shower, read my Food Network magazine (obsessed!), and once Dominic got home we went to sleep, too.
Olivia slept until 9 this morning and when she woke up, she was back to her normal pop-up and say “Mama!” self, and I am so relieved. I hate when my baby is sick.
How was your weekend?
