Happy TUESDAY, Everyone!
I hope you guys all enjoyed your 3 day weekend! This is obviously going to be a bit longer of a post, considering there’s an extra day thrown in here and all…..
Oh and I totally blame this chilly weekend on myself because on Thursday I actually said the words, “I wish it was Christmastime already.”
Um……who wishes for that? Apparently I do.
Friday was the most chill day of them all. And the chilliest (it was only like 52!) We didn’t wake up until 11:30am, which meant that we had exactly two hours to spend with Dominic, before he had to leave for work. No bueno.
We literally lazed around all the live long day. My sister stopped by and we had a little pasta for lunch. Olivia thoroughly enjoyed the pasta and here is the proof:
Oh that girl.
I haven’t really been on the computer much this past week, so I took full advantage of my sister being here to entertain Olivia while I browsed the internets.
And then I thought to myself, “Maybe, just maybe, I should start looking for our wedding invitations because that date is coming a lot sooner than I had imagined and I still have nothing.” So look for invitations I did and stressed out I got.
Why can’t I just have a talented friend that specializes in design? (I mean, not that my friends aren’t talented……because they are. But none of them in design.) I didn’t even know where to begin on picking the perfect invitation and I looked through at least four different websites and none of them truly caught my attention. I lied, one did, but I couldn’t add a third color.
And then after I gave up on the invitation search for a little while, I decided to look at centerpiece ideas, and church decoration ideas and it’s just all sooooooooo much!
WEDDING PLANNING IS OVERWHELMING, YA’LL.
I decided to turn off my computer after that, and a few hours later, my sister left.
We literally spent the rest of the night just hanging out, and then when it was time for Olivia to go to sleep, she claimed she “wasn’t tired”.
Okay so maybe she didn’t claim anything but that’s what I got out of her little protest against bed time.
Dominic came home later than normal, and I had the worst headache in the history of EVER, so I fell asleep on the couch. When he finally came home, he whispered to me, “I have something to show you, go put your shoes on.” And we went outside into the cold night, and he pointed at the sky.
Fun fact: I love the moon. And I love the clouds. Friday night I got the best of both worlds.
While it’s super hard to take pictures at night on my camera, I tried anyway so I could post them here! It was so pretty.
Saturday morning Dominic was off so he went out to breakfast with his parents, and Olivia and I spent the morning eating cereal and apples and watching a few cartoons.
When Dominic got home, we met my dad and my sister at the mall to do a little shopping. I got the cutest outfit for the 4th of July, and Olivia got a few cute outfits herself including…..wait for it…….OVERALLS. Oh my goodness I can’t wait to put her in those things.
After an entire afternoon of shopping, we left my family, we decided to stop at Dominic’s parent’s house to have a bonfire… They weren’t there, but said we could use their little fire pit. We love bonfires, but didn’t really think ours through. We didn’t bring blankets, a set of keys to their home to get blankets (or to be able to pee!), or any snacks. Needless to say, we were there for about 20 minutes, and then came home.
Dominic and I decided to have a little movie night, so we watched ‘This is 40’. Don’t waste your time, it. was. SO. stupid. Not to mention the fact that it was 2 and a half hours long. I don’t know how, or why, I sat through something that dumb for such a long period of time.
On Sunday, Olivia woke up at 8am. I mean, this girl just does not understand what the words ‘Sleep In’ mean. She’s lucky she’s cute.
Olivia and I spent the afternoon with Dominic’s parents. We wanted to get a few wedding things accomplished and guess what?! I picked out our wedding invitations! They are simple, and romantic and totally us and I love that Dominic loves them as much as I do.
After we finished at the paper store, we walked around downtown oak park.
And then we stopped in some spice shop, and his parents shopped while Olivia and I colored. Of all places to have a kid corner, ya know?
We passed a Crumbs so of course we had to stop and get some cupcakes. I tried the Boston Cream, Nick tried the PB&J, and Nancy tried the Raspberry. All of them were soooo good! I’ve mentioned before that I kind of determine whether or not I like a cupcake shop based on how it’s Red Velvet tastes, and I tried Crumb’s Red Velvet when I was pregnant and I wasn’t a fan, so I didn’t come back…but I’m glad we stopped in because that Boston Cream was definitely something that dreams are made of.
Dominic got a new pair of roller skates that he wanted to try out, so we walked while he rolled to the store to get milk.
And then he took them off and we continued to walk around the block, before coming home, getting into our pjs, and putting Olivia to sleep.
/\ Looking right at her Daddy. We’re obviously both a little obsessed with him ;) \/
Usually, I’m the night owl. Dominic is always falling asleep at like 10pm and I’m all wide-eyed until at least 1am.
On Sunday night, it was the oppoisite. I was SO exhausted, I wanted to go to bed at 11pm, but Dominic got me to stay up until midnight. Fair enough, right?
I knew all day Sunday that I was going to have to do a lot of running around on Monday, and it didn’t make it any better that Dominic worked, so I had to do all the running around without him for a good portion of the day!. I’m gonna be totally honest, a huge part of me almost said “forget it ALL” and stay home, but I didn’t!
My dad and sister came over in the morning, and it was a little chilly and gloomy, so we just hung out at my house, played with Olivia, watching Minute to Win It (have you guys seen this show?! It’s so addicting. I bet I could do all of those challenges ;)
Then we got ready (I tried to dress her in something as patriotic as possible), and my dad drove us to Dominic’s parent’s house. A lot of family was there, and it was nice to see everyone.
I was making myself a turkey burger, and Olivia was sitting on the counter top next to me. I turned away for one second, and when I turned back, this is what she was doing:
She LOVES corn.
And a few of Dominic’s baby cousins were there, and Olivia really loved playing with them! They were running up and down the alley and Olivia did her best to run and keep up with them.
And then my uncle picked us up from there, and brought us to my grandma’s house. I didn’t take many pictures there, in fact, all I have is this one picture of Olivia trying an ice cream sandwich, that my sister took with her phone!
We had ribs, burgers and hot dogs and it was all soooo good. Dominic met us at my grandma’s and he got to eat, and then we let Olivia run outside for a little while before we headed home.
Olivia didn’t take a real nap all day, so she was super tired, and really really mad at us for not letting her sleep in the car, or letting her go to sleep at 7:25 when we got home. I decided to give her a nice bath, we cleaned the house, and I even made a batch of banana muffins for Olivia.
Finally at 9pm, Dominic brought her upstairs and put our tired baby to sleep.
We both took showers, and us tired babies went straight to sleep, too.
I love three day weekends, but it sure throws off the rest of the week.
I’m doing a cycle class today at 6 with my friend, Stef! Gotta cycle off all of the food I ate this weekend!
How was your weekend?
