I think I’ve said it before, I definitely know I’ve said it to Dominic, but if there’s one thing I wish I could take back from my past, it’s how hard I was on myself for being “fat”. It’s in quotes because I really wasn’t fat. In fact, I would KILL to be that “fat” again.
new mom body of mine is complete with wider hips, a little mom pooch, a larger not-so-nice number on the scale, and battle scars aka stretch marks. It’s been very hard to accept the changes, and even harder to find the time (and energy) to lose the last of my baby weight. Apparently the whole getting married thing isn’t really much motivation for me. My weight has fluctuated so much in the past few months and I just want the number to consistently go down. Not down, then up, then down, and then up again. It’s just not fun.
Dominic and I found this app a few weeks ago called “My Fitness Pal“, and I have to admit, at first, I was all like, “Oh I have to search and enter everything in that I eat everyday? Too much work, no thanks.” But then one day, I saw what looked like Dominic taking pictures of all of the food he ate everyday. However, what he was really doing was scanning all of the food. Much easier! So I gave it a shot.
When you sign up for My Fitness Pal, they ask you your Name, Gender, Current Weight, Current Height, and what your Goal Weight is. After you enter in all that good stuff, they give you a certain amount of calories you’re allowed to eat everyday, and all you have to do is add everything you eat everyday, and make sure to stay under your daily limit. Like I said, I love that you can scan stuff. All you do is put your phone’s camera up to the bar code on whatever you’ve eaten that day and it’ll automatically come up and all you have to do is input how many servings of each thing you’ve eaten. Easy peasy. And even easier, if you’re like me and eat the same thing several days in a row, My Fitness Pal remembers your recent foods so you can just go through your “recents” and click and add that way, too!
It also allows you to add in any workout that you do every day. Like most people, I hate most workouts, but it is cool to add in whatever workout you do do, because it also brings your calorie limit back up again.
My Fitness Pal is like a BFF you’ve never had. One that keeps you accountable, and lets you know if you go over your daily limit. You can also add your real-life friends, to give you even more motivation. My only friend is Dominic, which is good enough for me, but I’ve seen other moms form groups to keep each other in line and I think that it’s a great idea.
Other cool features: you can add your own recipes- My Fitness Pal will then do all of the nutritional facts for you. And you can also log onto your account from online so there’s always a way to input your data, no excuses!
And if all of that isn’t motivation enough (this is my favorite part), at the end of every day, you click the button that says “Complete this Entry” and based on the calories you had for the day, it’ll let you know how much you could potentially weigh in 5 weeks. And it’s always a super awesome number, which helps me keep going big time.
Because of My Fitness Pal, I’ve started portioning my foods, and I actually find a little enjoyment in it. I like eating exact amounts of a serving size, I like entering in what I’ve eaten for the day (or sometimes I plan ahead and enter in what I plan on eating the whole day to see if it works with my calorie limit!) and best of all, since I’ve started using this handy dandy little app I’ve already lost 2 pounds. It’s a really great feeling. No more fluctuation for me!
I know this kinda sounds like a sponsored post, but I swear it’s not! I truly just love this app and wanted to share it with all of you! And if you’d like to add me, just click here.
Oh, My Fitness Pal, thank you for coming into my life, I promise to love you long time.
