No, not little baby pigs…
And I’m also gonna go ahead and say right off the bat that this post is going to contain one too many photos of those little feet…..
But they’re baby feet so it’s okay, right?
Have I ever talked about how Dominic and I knew we were going to have a girl before the technicians even told us? It’s true, we did. We just knew. And we were both super excited.
And all I kept thinking about was, “Oh my god, Pink! Nail polish! Dress up! Tea parties! Tutus! Barbies! Yay!” I mean, obviously I thought of other things, but those were the first few that came to mind ;)
Every time I thought of painting Olivia’s nails, my thought process was kind of like, “I’m going to wait until she’s older, so she understands, and it could be an awesome little mother/daughter bonding moment.” I wanted it to be special.
Well recently, she has been playing with my nail polish collection a lot. She is obsessed with color, always attracted to the different colors when I go into make-up stores, drug stores, etc., so I guess I’m not too surprised that she’s interested in all of the reds and pinks in my collection.
On a whim, I decided that yesterday I was going to grab my camera, lay a blanket on the lawn, pick the lightest pink polish, and paint my daughter’s baby toes. It’s been pretty gloomy these past few days, we haven’t seen much sun, in fact, it’s just super humid and rainy, so it was to have a little bit of a pick me up that made the gloomy day a little more special.
Even though I know she didn’t truly understand what I was doing, it was still such an awesome feeling. The first (of many) time that I was painting her sweet little piggies. I sat there and took as much time as she let me, to really soak in this awesome little moment. I not only picked a lighter color, but I also picked a polish that only took about a minute to dry, because I knew she wasn’t going to sit for very long. Actually, she couldn’t even sit for the minute and she smudged a few toes, but I didn’t care. I was in my own little mom heaven for that almost-minute.
And can we just talk for a second about how delicious baby toes really are? The really are.
Next time, I’m probably going to paint them red. I know it’s a lot darker, but I don’t care. Red is where it’s at!
Oh and one more thing? It still was pretty special.
P.S. I love having a girl.
