Twas a good weekend.
Friday I did have Odin, but only for a few hours. It was so hot out, but then it rained and as soon as the sun went down, it was so beautiful so we spent the evening outside coloring, playing, hanging out!
Dominic had Saturday (and Sunday!) off, so we spent the first half of the morning with my dad and sister. We went out to lunch, went to Target, got a few things and then we parted ways and Dominic and I came home for a little while, to get ready and pack a little bag. We decided to take Olivia to see Fireworks Downtown, and I plan on telling you alllllllll about it on Wednesday :)
And on Sunday Dominic spent the morning/afternoon with his parents at a White Sox game, while Olivia and I attended a baby shower. It was for Odin’s Aunt, and it was a nice party. The mama-to-be was glowing, totally rocking this whole pregnancy thing, and you could tell that everyone there to celebrate adored her, and her soon-to-be baby girl. While Olivia played, I sat down and talked with an old friend, one I have known since my very first day of Kindergarten, and it was SO nice to catch up with her. I love running into people like that! After the party, I picked up my sister from work, dropped her off home, stopped in to say hi to my Grandma, and went to pick up Olivia. We asked his parents if they could watch Olivia for a few hours, while we went on a little date. Dominic and I don’t really ever go on dates, and it’s more because of me than him. Even though being a SAHM begs for a little break, I still can’t help but want to take Olivia EVERYWHERE. I feel terrible when I leave her to go have fun without her there….is that weird? Does that guilty feeling ever go away?
Anyway, we went to downtown Naperville, had BBQ (my fave) for dinner, and then walked around. The only bad thing about yesterday was that we went kind of late, so by the time we wanted to walk around and visit all the cute little stores, everything was closed.
As we were walking, I said to Dominic, “I could really go for some good old fashion cookie dough ice cream. No frozen yogurt, no soft serve, no milkshakes, just a nice scoop of cookie dough ice cream.” And as we turned the corner we saw a neon sign that was blinking ICE CREAM and the name of the place was called Cookie Dough Creations.
Like it was made for me.
So of course we walk over there, go inside, and it was the cutest little hole in the wall. I go up to place my order and I say, “Hi, I’ll have a scoop of the Fat Elvis (banana and peanut butter ice cream!) and a scoop of cookie dough (don’t judge me!) And she said, “Okay, what kind of cookie dough?” I was like hmmmmm, no one’s ever asked me that before, “Plain cookie dough?” She said, “Oh we don’t have cookie dough ice cream, we just have 8 different kinds of ACTUAL cookie dough, made without eggs so you don’t get sick, that we scoop on top of your ice cream.”
What the? Mind. Blown.
I try not to sound too shocked and I say, “Alright, I’ll try the oreo cookie dough.”
And guess what?
Heaven. In my. Mouth. So good!
Although it was super sweet, obviously, so I couldn’t finish it all. But don’t you worry your pretty little heads because I absolutely did not throw that little bowl of heaven away, I brought it back for Nick and Nancy. I hope they eat it and love it tonight, or I may just have to go and take it back ;)
We walked around a little more, hand in hand, ice cream in my other hand, and talked about some things and I loved every little second of it. And when we got back, our little baby ran right up to us with the biggest smile, and hugged our legs. That girl.
Told ya it was a good weekend.
How was yours?
P.S….I just noticed that I didn’t take out my camera really at all this weekend………whoops :x
