This weekend we made a quick trip up to Galena. Galena is always the quickest and easiest way to get relaxation. We’ve been so busy these past few weeks, that it really was exactly what we needed. My favorite part is that it’s almost impossible to get service, which obviously made it very easy to leave your phone behind and just be there.
We usually always go up to Galena in the late Spring or during the summer. This was our first time going up during the fall and oh my god, I don’t know how or why we didn’t think to come up during Fall sooner. The colors were breathtaking. The best oranges, yellows, and reds you ever did see. I felt like I took more pictures of the trees and our view, instead of Olivia ;)
Olivia had a little cold, so I feel like we didn’t spend too much time outside with her, but Dominic and I definitely took advantage of it. By Sunday she was feeling a little better, so I was able to a get a few shots of her and Dominic.
One of my favorite moments of the weekend was going in the hot tub. I know it seems like such a small thing, but it was everything, really. While Olivia napped, Dominic and I snuck outside, and being in this 100 degree tub, knowing it’s like 40 degrees outside, talking to my husband….it was just so perfect. It just felt like we were the only two people on the planet, it was so peaceful, so quiet. Oh and the view wasn’t too bad either ;)
When we went to Downtown Galena, there was a woman singing and playing the guitar and Olivia was in Heaven, my tiny dancer. At one point she started singing with the woman and it was just so freakin cute. Here’s a quick 6 second clip:
After dinner, we decided to take Olivia to the pool. We thought it closed at 10pm, but it really closed at 8…..we got there at 7:45. The lifeguard was nice enough to let us stay so Olivia could play in the pool for 15 minutes (because we had already got her so pumped up for it!) and it was honestly the perfect amount of time for her to play. She was upset at first when we told her we had to go but then we told her that she could play in the bath when we got back and she was satisfied with that :)
I hated that we were only able to spend a day and a half up there, but it was definitely better than nothing. I’m hoping to go back up there really soon.
Now we’re back to real life….planning someone’s second birthday, cleaning the house, making lists, meal planning….
How was your weekend?
