I can’t believe we’re already on our third round of holidays :(
I don’t know if you are aware, but the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is also known as “Blackout Wednesday”. Kind of a funny title, but also kind of appropriate for some people. Basically, everyone gets together at bars and just drinks until they blackout…..Dominic and I went last year, and we had a blast. No, we did not blackout, but we did have a great time with people who we do and don’t see on a normal basis. This year was the same. It’s just so nice to be around all of your friends, have a few drinks, and just laugh so hard you cry. I love it! I love even more watching Dominic sit back and relax. He’s always working and on the go, so to see him so much less tense makes me a very happy wife.
Dominic’s parents watched Olivia while we were out being teenagers again. I really wanted to pick her up when we got home, but it was 2am and that would’ve just been selfish. Dominic and I woke up Thanksgiving morning at 8:30am. I said, “I can’t believe we’re childless and we’re still up early.” To which he replied, “I can’t believe we’re not getting up and ready so we can go get our baby.”
We took showers, got dressed, picked up some coffee and went to our baby.
This is what we were welcomed with:
She had just taken a shower with Grandma. She is a sucker for showers.
We had our first Thanksgiving at my in-law’s house. My father in law makes the best fried turkey ever. Cheesy mashed potatoes, veggies, bread, and a whole can of cranberries just for me. Ugh, I want it to be Thanksgiving again.
We were there for a few hours, and then Olivia and I took a nap before heading out to my Grandparent’s house!
Dominic couldn’t come with us because he had to work the night-shift. The only bad part of the whole day :(
I love going by my grandparent’s for Thanksgiving dinner. It’s my favorite meal that my grandma makes. Unfortunately because Olivia and I were late, we only got what everyone left over…..but it was still good :)
We ate dessert, sat around the table and talked for a little while and then my sister and I left with Olivia to head back to my house. My dad was in Mexico for Thanksgiving so we went home and skyped him.
We got to see a bunch of my relatives, and some of them finally got to meet Olivia. Technology is awesome.
And then before I took her out of her Thanksgiving best, I took a few last pictures.
If you see in the background, my little artist left us a little surprise. Like I said on my Instagram, for Thanksgiving I was very thankful that it was just chalk and not Crayon.
Oh and for those who are curious, I bought her dress from Target during the summer. I saw it, fell in love, and knew it would be perfect for Thanksgiving…and it was!
This is usually our Thanksgiving routine every year. And I wouldn’t change it at all! I have a feeling that in a few years, I’m gonna have to start hosting Thanksgiving, so until then, I’m thankful that I just attend our dinners, and not have to cook for them.
What are your Thanksgiving traditions?
