We finally got our front facing car seat and to say that we are obsessed would be an understatement.
Last Thursday, Dominic, Olivia and I had a very productive errand-running day. We did Christmas shopping, a little grocery shopping and decided that it was the perfect day to go pick out a forward facing car seat. We went to Buy Buy Baby and spent about an hour going back and forth over which car seat was right for baby girl and finally decided on the Maxi-Cosi Pria 70.
The very first thing that sold us was the padding. Holy cushions! It was the comfiest looking, and feeling of them all. The seat buckle is also so easy to clip together and clip off, there are shoulder pads, a cup holder (my second favorite feature!) and my most favorite feature of all is that there is a little piece of cushion right behind the bottom buckle that sits between her thighs. While we loved our last car seat, sometimes when we’d buckle her in, it would pinch her thighs so that extra cushion definitely prevents that!
We were so excited to finally get a big girl car seat for our big girl. Dominic and I decided to wait until she was two to forward face her, and although it’s bittersweet (why is she already two years old?!), it was so exciting.
Unfortunately, Buy Buy Baby only had pink car seats in stock, and the black floor model. I didn’t want to settle for the floor model, and we definitely didn’t want a pink one so they took our information and shipped it to us for free, since they didn’t have it in stock! The lady that helped us said that it would arrive in about two weeks but that Monday, our doorbell rang and the beautiful fed-ex man handed over our new car seat!
Dominic wasn’t home when it came, so I decided to take it out anyway and put Olivia in it, just to see how she’d look….and the answer is that she looked like she aged about ten million years. She looks like such a little grown up! :(
It was so cool to see her face once we actually put her in it in the car. It was like a whole new world for her. She got to see how the car wash really worked, she got to see the trucks that passed (she’s obsessed with trucks right now) and even all the houses decorated for Christmas! It was awesome for us to watch her just sit there and so curiously look out the window.
I think it’s safe to say that she loves it just as much as we do and I definitely don’t blame her, I wish I had that kind of padded seat when I get in the car.
Oh and don’t worry, you car seat nazis, we fixed her straps as soon as I was done with this little photo shoot!
It’s a beautiful car seat, we’re very happy with it, just not happy about the fact that our girl is already in a forward facing car seat….
…..although I will admit that I kind of love that when I turn around I get to see her beautiful face instead of having to look through a mirror to see her! You can also tell she’s A LOT more comfortable.
If you’re in the market for a new car seat, I would totally recommend this one. I’m upset we didn’t do our research and get it sooner because it is a convertible one, which means it could still rear face if I wanted it to, although I know it won’t make her any younger! ;)
Anyone else have this beauty?
P.S. Thank you to my Grandmother because she’s the one that gave us the gift of a new car seat for Olivia’s birthday! We love you, Grams!
