A good friend of mine welcomed a beautiful baby boy right at the beginning of November and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on him! After about a month, we were finally able to sync schedules and Olivia and I drove to meet his handsome face (and to visit his proud parents!).
I didn’t want to walk in there empty handed, so a few days before I knew we were gonna go visit them, I went to Target and grabbed a few things that I would’ve loved to have on hand as a new mom, to bring to my new mom friend!
Everyone always brings stuff for the baby, so I thought it would be a nice change of pace to bring mama something instead. In her bag I decided to put:
Bath Salts– to relieve some stress and relax in a nice, warm bath. This particular one smells heavenly!
Face Masks– for obvious, refreshing reasons.
Chocolates– When you’re breastfeeding, you still get those crazy pregnancy cravings. Chocolate always does the trick…and may even make those late night feedings a little more tolerable ;)
Nail Polish– I chose a dark red nail polish and one that dries insanely quick. The last thing a new mom wants to do is wait around for her nails to dry while her baby is fussing! (P.S. I loved this color so much I went back and bought it for myself!)
Chapstick– I remember my lips being very dry the first few months as a new mom. Maybe I wasn’t drinking enough water, or maybe I had our room too warm (we shared a room with Olivia when she was first born and I was so afraid she was going to freeze to death, I’m not kidding!) but this chapstick was one of my faves, so I wanted to pass the love along.
A little something for baby– When I visited my friend and her new baby, he was way too young for a new toy or book, instead I opted for something of the keepsake type. His first Christmas was right around the corner so I thought that this little baby blue picture ornament was the perfect choice!
A few other things you can throw in there: Wine, a card, a Netflix subscription, gourmet coffee grounds, trail mix, a gift card for her favorite take out restaurant, or even bring her favorite drink from her favorite coffee/tea/smoothie shop (I brought her Starbucks!)
Put it all together in a cute little bag and you’re done! Easy peasy. I had so much fun putting it together that I wish I would’ve thought of it sooner for a few other girlfriends that have had babies. While all the fuss is usually over the baby, it’s nice to treat the new mom, too!
