I know I said in my last post about a date Dominic and I went on, that I had a post strictly dedicated to why I’m not much for date night to begin with. I really shouldn’t promise you guys things because it has taken me a lot longer to shell certain posts out (if you can’t already tell) Anyway, the good news is that I am working on it. Maybe half way done? But the bad news is that I’m just having a little trouble finding the right words lately. I think a lack of inspiration, lack of good weather (which maybe ties into the whole inspiration thing?), and even lack of sleep, will do that to a person. Note to self: get your grove back, girlfriend!
Guess what, though?! We actually went on another date! Crazy, right? I decided to make this a little series, so I can document all of our dates and maybe even give ideas to other couples that want something a little different! Anyway, we both agreed that we were gonna eat at home this time around (healthier choices, cheaper, and more time with Olivia before we left her for that whole hour and a half ;) and in case you don’t remember, it was my turn to pick the activity and I chose for us to do Candlelit Yoga!
For Valentine’s Day, I bought Dominic a Groupon for an entire 5 weeks of unlimited yoga classes about 15 minutes from where we live. The place is called Corepower Yoga. He said that he wanted to start doing yoga, and I wanted to show my support and when I saw the Groupon, I knew it was perfect! It’s taken him a little time to actually go to the classes (he’s afraid he’s gonna look like a fool in front of everyone), but when I saw that there was a Candlelight class on the very same day, it’s like the activity chose itself!
I was super excited to go to Dominic’s first yoga studio class with him, and even more excited because even though I’ve been to a few yoga classes, I’ve never been to a candlelit class! Firsts all around!
And a few sneaky, and very grainy, cell phone pictures for good measure….If you don’t take pictures, you didn’t do it, right? Wrong…..but I did it anyway ;)
I really liked this class for a few reasons. One, it wasn’t too crowded. Two, you could tell there were a few other beginners there as well and that made Dominic feel better (and even me because I’m totes not a pro!). And three, the instructor was super cool. He was informative, patient, and relaxing. Overall, it was a great experience and really the only thing I would say wasn’t great was the lack of candles! There were about four or five giant candles at the front of the room and I think about two of them were lit. Dominic and I are candle people so we definitely noticed that right away, although it didn’t really bother us enough to make us not wanna go to the class again. In fact, I can’t wait to go again!
Dominic said he had a great first experience and he’s actually been getting up for some of the morning classes (his favorite so far is a cycling class, go figure!), which makes me happy because he’s actually enjoying his gift!
I love yoga. The greatest thing about it is really how you feel afterward. We left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and connected. And didn’t I say last time that that’s what Date Night is all about? Bonus points that this date was a benefit to our health! We also left feeling super anxious to go pick up a little some one special, who we promised a trip to Target after we picked her up ;)
Anyone ever do a candlelit yoga class, with or without your significant other?
