Still trucking along on the quest to finish Summer Bucket List, only 14 more days!
Two weeks ago, we made plans to finally head to the farmer’s market. We really love farmer’s markets. All the fresh food and flowers and canned goods. Olivia woke up singing “We’re going to the farmer’s market, we’re going to the farmer’s market!”
We got up bright and early to head to one that was about ten minutes from us and unfortunately, when we arrived, we found out that it didn’t start until 3pm. We thought that was pretty unusual, but that didn’t stop us! We just found a different farmer’s market, in a different little town, that actually turned out to be bigger!
We bought fresh flowers, fresh raspberry jam, and the most delicious sweet corn we’ve ever tasted! We walked around, let Olivia try all the samples and then came home for the afternoon.
The next morning, while going for a bikeride, we came across another farmer’s market about five minutes from our house. Of course we couldn’t not stop and see what they had so on that trip we bought more flowers (I am such a sucker for fresh flowers), some homemade salsa, and strawberries (that we ended up finishing that day, ha!)
I’ve had a lot of people ask me where we went so on the first trip we went to the Elmhurst Farmer’s Market. It’s open on Wednesdays from 7am to 1pm. And on the second trip, we went to the La Grange Farmer’s Market, that’s open on Thursdays from 7am to 11am. And just in case you’re curious, we originally had planned to go the Yorktown Farmer’s Market, which is open from 3pm-7pm! So far I think the Elmhurst one has been my favorite, although I really loved the unique looking flowers we bought at the one in La Grange!
