About a month ago, one of my girlfriends sent me a text that read something along the lines of: “OMG, DISNEY ON ICE ON SEPTEMBER 14TH, LET’S GO!”
Girl, you had me at Disney.
Dominic and I have been talking about taking Olivia to a Disney on Ice show for probably about a year. It’s just that every time we planned it, something would come up. My sister, my girlfriend Steph, her sister in law, my other girlfriend Stef, and her cousin joined us in our little girl’s night. Unfortunately, Dominic wasn’t even able to make this show but we all had just as much fun!
I honestly don’t know which part was my favorite: watching Olivia light up when she put on her princess dress, watching Olivia light up when she saw the entire show, oooooor seeing Mickey Mouse…
I’m gonna go with a tie between all three ;)
Here is my little princess in all of her glittery (really, really glittery. like, glitter on everything she touched, glittery) glory:
Ugh. Can you even handle that? I sure can’t. I cried when I saw her. I’m a crier, I can’t help it. (Her “Yook, Dada! I’m a princess!” just about killed me.)
When we first arrived, after getting our tickets scanned and our bags checked, we made our way toward the concession stands (duh!). Everything was pink and princess-y and Olivia was seriously so excited from the very moment we walked in. My sister and I were also in heaven because we used to go to these Disney on Ice shows every year when we were younger, so it was really nice to be able to take Olivia and have her feel the exact same things that we did when we were small! Pretty much everything was exactly the same as we remembered it (except the prices). We bought snowcones in character cups, popcorn in character bags and I bought Olivia one of those light up wands that she could use during the show.
Speaking of the show…. SO CUTE!
I was honestly amazed with the fact that Olivia sat through the entire thing. I never know with that girl, sometimes she’ll sit for hours, sometimes she’s not as impressed as I thought she’d be and she wants to walk around. I’m glad she went with the first one!
The theme was Princesses & Heroes. I’m not really sure why they called them heroes and not princes, but whatever. Still cute! Olivia’s favorites were Belle (she is still on quite the ‘booty and the beast’ kick) and Cinderella (she was dressed as her, afterall).
It was such a perfect night for a little princess, and I am so sad that Dominic missed it. Although I did hear something about said little princess getting tickets to go see Frozen on Ice in February and I know Dominic won’t miss that one ;)
Every time I talk or think about anything Disney related, I immediately think of my godmother. She passed away in 2009, but she is the reason why I am so obsessed with everything Disney. I know that she would be absolutely, without a doubt, head over HEELS for Olivia and it saddens me that they’ll never meet. But I do take comfort knowing that not only is she in a better place, but that Olivia and I are lucky enough to have the most beautiful guardian angel there is.
