When I was younger, blanket forts were HUGE in our household. I don’t mean to brag or anything, but my dad was the best fort builder in the whole world. His forts were always so sturdy, so big and my sister and I would leave them up for weeks on end because we loved them so much.
Naturally, once Olivia was born, I couldn’t wait for the day that Dominic and I would get to build a blanket fort with her, and make the same memories that my dad used to make with me and my sister.
We built our first one a few weeks ago and she has been begging for another one ever since, so we finally gave into her requests yesterday morning. We woke up, ate breakfast and since it was snowing outside, we decided that it was the perfect Sunday morning/afternoon activity.
When we told Olivia what we were up to, she was so eager to help out and when we were through, she was just as eager to put her new fort to good use.
A few things needed for the perfect fort: sturdy blankets for the exterior, comfy cozy blankets and pillows for the interior, fun activities (like games and/or a movie) and really good snacks.
Olivia is a huge fan of popcorn (I mean, who isn’t?) and we really, really love Pop Secret. It’s the only kind of popcorn we buy in this house because it’s so good. Pop Secret is also all about the blanket forts so if you decide to make one of your own, head over to their Facebook page and submit a picture of your fort (using the hashtag #PopSecretForts) and you’ll automatically be entered to win a fun prize pack and other good stuff! If that’s not motivation enough, there’s also a $1 off coupon and really, who doesn’t love coupons for delicious stuff? Exactly.
Anyway, we sat inside our fort all morning and played games, listened to some music (Taylor Swift, of course), ate yummy snacks and never changed out of our pjs. It was seriously the perfect Sunday morning and because we still haven’t take our fort down (I don’t know when she’s gonna let us take it down, to be honest ;), we’ll probably spend all of today in it, too. Honestly though, I’m not complaining because it’s Monday, she’s happy as long as there are snacks involved and I get to relax in a comfy fort all day :)
I hope your Monday is filled with comfy forts and tasty treats!
Katie (and Olivia, too!)
