I’ve really gotten into yoga this year and my favorite part about it is that Olivia has really gotten into it, too. Last week, I decided to break out the tripod (to also document a day in our life) and got a few shots of us during our morning yoga. I really love these shots and I love that she tries so hard to do exactly what I do.
I’ve had a few emails with questions regarding yoga with a toddler. A friend of mine guest posted almost a year ago and talked about easy poses you can do with your toddler. It’s an easy way to start slow and to figure out if your toddler is even interested in yoga.
I stopped doing yoga for a little while but, like I said above, started back up again at the beginning of the year. Olivia is very into doing everything that I do so she was totally game to start doing daily morning yoga. Even on the days that I’m not feeling it, she still wants to do it, which is obviously very beneficial for me ;) I do easy poses with her even now, but for a toddler, they are a little more advanced. Tree pose, child’s pose, warrior pose, downward dog and her favorite- happy baby pose are just a few of the ones that we practice each morning. It’s more than enough for her, and it’s enough for me too. Especially because I usually go to an actual class at night!
It’s important to me to teach Olivia that living a healthy lifestyle can be fun and also rewarding, so early in her life. And actually, I’m in the process of looking for a mommy and me yoga class and have my eye on this mat even if we just continue to do yoga at our house!
I’d love to know if there are any other mamas doing yoga (or any other fun mommy and me activities!) with their littles!
P.S I’m totally not claiming to be a yoga expert or anything like that, just speaking from the little experience that I do have.
P.P.S Yes, those are Christmas lights. I promise it’s the only thing left in the house that’s holiday related but Olivia really loves them and gets so upset when we try to take them down. Plus they make our living room like really pretty at night :P
