I’m not much of a breakfast person. Actually, I am but I like indulgent breakfasts. Think Belgium waffles, croissants, fluffy pancakes… Instead, I usually have a cup of coffee and a piece of fruit and I’m on my merry way.
Sometimes, though, sometimes….I give into my inner indulgent beast and feed her exactly what she wants. And lately, it’s been pancakes. Chocolate chip pancakes, to be exact. I never really ate them as a child and honestly, I don’t eat them really at all now. However last week, I had such a taste for them. So when I went out to breakfast with my family, I ordered them and they were delicious.
Like, really, really delicious.
I decided I wanted to make them in the comfort of my own home, but kick them up just a little tiny notch.
Enter my new BFF: Nestle Toll House DelightFulls. You guys, these babies are SUCH a game-changer!
Nestle Toll House DelightFulls are the newest addition to the family and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on them to try them out. First of all, how genius is it to create a chocolate chip…with filling?! And second, they come in four flavors: caramel, mint, cherry, and my favorite: peanut butter.
Putting the DelightFulls in our pancakes was the best idea I’ve had all week. I mean…just look at how delicious they look!
You can almost taste them through the screen ;)
Here’s what you need!
1 1/4 cups flour
3 Tablespoons of sugar
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of milk
2 large eggs (separated!)
3 Tablespoons of melted butter (plus a few extra table spoons for the griddle!)
1 cup of Nestle Toll House Peanut Butter DelightFulls (probably more than that because you will eat them as you go, we definitely did did!)
In one bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. In another bowl, combine the milk, egg yolks, and the melted butter. Once it’s mixed together, add it to the flour mixture until smooth.
In another bowl, beat the eggs whites at medium speed until stiff, (I hand whipped them, but you can use a mixer to make the process go along a bit faster) and then fold the egg whites into the batter.
Lastly, add in the Nestle Toll House Peanut Butter DelightFulls!
Melt butter onto and pour your batter onto your hot griddle. The consistency of the batter is a little thicker so they’re going to need a few minutes to cook on each side. You can usually tell when they’re ready to be flipped by the edges. If they look cooked, flip them over!
Once they’re done, you can add more Delightfulls to the top if you’d like. You can never have too much chocolate ;)
The peanut butter DelightFulls were seriously the perfect addition to my pancakes. Olivia loved them, my husband said, and I quote, “These are seriously the best pancakes I’ve ever had.” and I have to admit, they really are so good! A very indulgent, dessert-like breakfast that I cannot wait to make again. In fact, I plan on doing just that in a few weeks because we’re having house guests!
Oh and P.S- if you’re running low on time you can always just add the DelightFulls to your favorite pancake/waffle mix. I recommend always having these babies on hand. So good!
