You guys! Yesterday was SO beautiful. The sun was out, just a little bit of wind, 68 degrees. It was perfect. The perfect day for a picnic.
Olivia loves picnics. She always wants to have them. Tea party picnics, rain watching picnics, movie picnics…anything on the floor, with or without a blanket, is pretty much a picnic in her eyes so we were happy to finally be able to take her outside and enjoy a real picnic. She was excited, too.
I got together some of her favorite foods- apples, cheese, veggie sticks (she calls them green snacks) and cheese cubes and put them into pretty much my favorite new containers ever. The Nuby Wash or Toss Stackable Bowls are like Tupperware for tiny humans and I am so happy that Nuby sent them out for us to try out! They hold the perfect amount of food for a toddler, they’re small enough for a toddler to hold, they’re reusable, dishwasher safe and they come with lids. They were perfect for the picnic and I really appreciate the fact that they have lids because I’m always looking for somewhere to put snacks to stick in my bag for longer car rides, trips to the store, day trips to the museum/zoo/downtown….pretty much anywhere. Do you see where I’m going with this? Perfect tiny human Tupperware!
Before this becomes any more of a love letter to the bowls….picnic!
We picked this cute little forest preserve that we’ve never been to before and parked a spot under the only tree that had shade. (Which, ironically, had no leaves but that’s beside the point.) We ate, we blew bubbles, Dominic and Olivia ran around collecting sticks and picking flowers for Mama.
After a little while, we decided to pack up the picnic and explore a bit. We passed a bridge on our way toward our spot so we wanted to go check it out. As soon as we crossed the bridge, we found these trails and fields of pretty yellow flowers. Obviously we spent a ridiculous amount of time picking them and making tiny bouquets but how could we not?
It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon. She had such a good time, we all did, and I’m sure there’s another picnic in our future very soon. Especially with the beautiful weather we’re finally getting!
