Last Friday, Dominic had the morning off so we decided to take Olivia to the Garfield Park Conservatory. We’ve never been there before. In fact, we’ve never even heard of it until last week. I came across it while surfing through Instagram and I immediately knew that I wanted to take Olivia there!
Oh, it was so beautiful. First of all, it was pretty much the perfect day. It was 78 degrees outside, Olivia was wearing a dress with no tights and saltwaters, it was that nice out. And when we pulled up to the conservatory, we were surprised at how big it was!
You guys, this place is absolutely stunning. There are huge plants and trees, flowers of all different shades, information about everything, it was great. Dominic and I noticed that the temperature changed, depending on which room we were in which we thought was super cool and I also really love how family friendly it is there. There is a slide for the kids, little paths between the plants for them to walk through, tables and chairs to sit and have lunch, the lady even gave Olivia a piece of paper with a scavenger hunt at the door! Family friendly places are an immediate A+ in my book.
So beautiful, right?
We were there for almost two hours before heading back home. There were a few rooms that were in the process of being built, including the “dessert room” (full of cacti! we got a sneak peak and it looks so beautiful!!) and also the “fern room” (which just sounds so pretty!), so we’re already planning a trip to go back.
I love finding little Gems throughout this big city.
P.S. The conservatory is open 365 days a year and admittance is FREE! It’s the perfect place to spend a few hours and let your kids wear themselves out into a nice long nap time ;)
